When we look at the darkness that covered Egypt (in the previous lesson). We can also reflect that there is a darkness covering this Country right now.
One of deception, God has not revealed it into the physical darkness, seeing it with our eyes as they did in Egypt.
So what is darkness? The absence of light. What is light? God and truth.
John 3:19-21
19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."
Who carries that truth? We do.
Matthew 5:14-16
14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
If we are the light than how do we stand against darkness? How do we spot darkness? The absence of light. The absence of truth, and honesty. We see as we search for the truth of all things, the lies exposed. We are to seek the truth.
Ephesians 6:10-20
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the Wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery Darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints --19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. NKJV
We see the fruits of that darkness increase. (Just we are to watch for).We see the evil and corruption and heartlessness in this nation. These are the fruits of blindness. We must pray against deception each day in every avenue of our lives starting from us to the President. We must follow God’s direction. As Moses was directed, so should we be directed. It may be little, it may be big, but when God speaks and you know it lines up with God’s word. Then obey, we must. God said to Moses-
Exodus 12:3-12
3 Speak Ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth (day) of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to their fathers' houses, a lamb for a household: 4 and if the household be too little for a lamb, then shall he and his neighbor next unto his house take one according to the number of the souls; according to every man's eating Ye shall make your count for the lamb.
5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old: Ye shall take it from the sheep, or from the goats: 6 and Ye shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month; and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at even.
7 And they shall take of the blood, and put it on the two side-posts and on the lintel, upon the houses wherein they shall eat it. 8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
9 Eat not of it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roast with fire; its head with its legs and with the inwards thereof. 10 And Ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; but that which remaineth of it until the morning Ye shall burn with fire.
11 And thus shall Ye eat it: with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and Ye shall eat it in haste: it is Jehovah's passover. 12 For I will go through the land of Egypt in that night, and will smite all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am Jehovah. ASV
Exodus 12:13
13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where Ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and there shall no plague be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
This was done as the old covenant. But we have a new covenant, that exchanges the life of a lamb for the lamb of God-Jesus
Matthew 26:26-29
26 As they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread and asked God's blessing on it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, "Take it and eat it, for this is my body." 27 And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, "Each of you drink from it, 28 for this is my blood, which seals the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out to forgive the sins of many.
Jesus was our sacrifice, He gave himself as the perfect lamb for us so that we would be passed over .
Exodus 12:22-23
22 And Ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two side-posts with the blood that is in the basin; and none of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning.
23 For Jehovah will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side-posts, Jehovah will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. ASV
Exodus 12:28-32
28 And the children of Israel went and did so; as Jehovah had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.
The Children Obeyed 29 And it came to pass at midnight, that Jehovah smote all the first-born in the land of Egypt, from the first-born of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the first-born of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the first-born of cattle. 30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
31 And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, get you forth from among my people, both Ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve Jehovah, as Ye have said. 32 Take both your flocks and your herds, as Ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also.
Exodus 12:37-42
37 That night the people of Israel left Rameses and started for Succoth. There were about 600,000 men, plus all the women and children. And they were all traveling on foot. 38 Many people who were not Israelites went with them, along with the many flocks and herds. 39 Whenever they stopped to eat, they baked bread from the yeastless dough they had brought from Egypt. It was made without yeast because the people were rushed out of Egypt and had no time to wait for bread to rise.
40 The people of Israel had lived in Egypt for 430 years. 41 In fact, it was on the last day of the 430 th year that all the LORD's forces left the land. 42 This night had been reserved by the LORD to bring his people out from the land of Egypt, so this same night now belongs to him. It must be celebrated every year, from generation to generation, to remember the LORD's deliverance.
Exodus 12:48-51
48 "If there are foreigners living among you who want to celebrate the LORD's Passover, let all the males be circumcised. Then they may come and celebrate the Passover with you. They will be treated just as if they had been born among you. But an uncircumcised male may never eat of the Passover lamb. 49 This law applies to everyone, whether a native-born Israelite or a foreigner who has settled among you."
50 So the people of Israel followed all the LORD's instructions to Moses and Aaron. 51 And that very day the LORD began to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt, division by division. NLT
I find it interesting that God included other peoples even before Jesus died for everyone, but under HIS laws were they included. God always wants to be acknowledged as to true and only God. He Wants to be the Guide of the peoples.
Exodus 13:1-3
13:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.
Before God has worked in many times in our Bible, God calls on the peoples to sanctify themselves We must look at ourselves, in the nation that has many sins, we must first ask God to help with any we ourselves may be doing. Jesus covered our sins, but we must strive to
Exodus 13:21-22
21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: 22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
When we journey The Lord will still be our guide. It is in His word that we look for this guidance.
Exodus 14:1-3
14:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baal-zephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.
God tells us where we should stand and stay, even if it looks like a hopeless place!
3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in. KJV
Exodus 14:13-16
13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear Ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of Jehovah, which he will work for you to-day: for the Egyptians whom Ye have seen to-day, Ye shall see them again no more for ever. 14 Jehovah will fight for you, and Ye shall hold your peace.
15 And Jehovah said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward. 16 And lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thy hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go into the midst of the sea on dry ground.
Exodus 14:19-23
19 And the angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud removed from before them, and stood behind them: 20 and it came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel; and there was the cloud and the darkness, yet gave it light by night: and the one came not near the other all the night.
21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and Jehovah caused the sea to go (back) by a strong east wind all the night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. 23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
God provided the awesome path. God had planned a journey before the Israelites, if they had the courage to step forth and obey his instructions, then He they would be saved from bondage.
Exodus 14:24-28
24 And it came to pass in the morning watch, that Jehovah looked forth upon the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and discomfited the host of the Egyptians.
God’s deliverance-
25 And he took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily; so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for Jehovah fighteth for them against the Egyptians. 26 And Jehovah said unto Moses, Stretch out thy hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.
27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and Jehovah overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, even all the host of Pharaoh that went in after them into the sea; there remained not so much as one of them. ASV
What does this mean to us? In Obedience to God’s commands, God provides deliverance.
Deuteronomy 8:1
8:1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD swear unto your fathers.
Mark 12:28-31
Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?"
29 Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. 30 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
As an American Christian we are to Love God with all our heart. That means when our way of thinking collides with Christs, we are to follow HIM (not ourselves). He will then be our strength. We are to look out for our brothers just as our selves. That means help to find solutions to problems not only for ourselves , but for others as well . Help be the way to solutions that are guided by looking to God, not the surface solution, but all aspects of each problem we are dealt. To try to line up morally, and spiritually, to adhere to God’s laws and those of our Founding Fathers.
As scriptures tell us, we are to be God’s light and lead others to light Let us pray for honesty and truthfulness in this Nation, Let us pray the yoke of darkness be broken and light burst through in all aspects of our lives. Let us give light to others in this Nation, and stand firm in the rights and freedoms of our UNITED STATES OF America. Let us rise up across this Nation and ride on God’s principles for our Nation. Let the Church of all denominations Be THE CHURCH, THE LIGHT,THE SALT.

The American Christian Miracles in the Mist of Mayhem Lesson 6
|
Alexis de Tocqueville, observed in Democracy in America (1835):
I do not know whether all Americans have a sincere faith in their religion, for who can read the
human heart? But I am certain that they hold it to be indispensable to the maintenance of republican institutions. This opinion is not peculiar to a class of citizens of to a party, but it belongs to the whole nation and to every rank of society.
Let us strive to be the “True American Christian”
