Strength in the Midst of the Storm
                                       Part 1

We know from the previous chapter’s lessons Weapons of “Words Past and Present” that God has
always been an intended part, the whole thrust; of the peoples coming here. To be established in this
new land so that they could worship their God in the way to which they believed (this without controls of
Government). Therefore they made God the essential part of the plan. One that government could not
dissolve the covenant they had struck with their God. Examples of this all over our walls and our
Constitution and Bills of Rights.

Covenant, what is that? A mutual undertaking between two parties or more each binding himself to
fulfill obligations.-(Vines dictionary)

A covenant went on forever as an oath. It was not taken lightly. It was not a transient or fluid resolution,
but one that stood firm like a rock for generations.

Let’s look again at our oath to God as a Nation.

Our Pledge to our Flag reads:

I pledge allegiance to the Flag
Of the United States of America,
And to the Republic for which it stands:
                                      One Nation under God, indivisible,
With Liberty and Justice for all.

This is a covenant agreement between The American People and God.

Examples - God to Man

Gen 9:9-16

9 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you.
10 And with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the
earth with you. Of all that go out of the ark, even every beast of the earth.
11 And I will establish my covenant with you. Neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the
waters of the flood. Neither shall there anymore be a flood to destroy the earth.
12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every
living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations.
13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the
earth.
14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in
the cloud,
15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of
all flesh. And the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 And the bow shall be in the cloud. And I will look upon it, that I may remember the
everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

Gen 17:2-7  God and Abraham

2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
3 And Abram fell on his face. And God talked with him, saying;
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be the father of a multitude of
nations.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but they name shall be Abraham. For the
father of a multitude of nations have I made thee.
6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come
out of thee.
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee, throughout
their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee.

Rom 1:16-2:1

Is this our peoples right now?

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that
believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

17 For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, But the
righteous shall live by faith.

Example of those who turn from their God-  Peoples who break covenant with Him.

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of
men, who hinder the truth in unrighteousness;

19 because that which is known of God is manifest in them; for God manifested it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being
perceived through the things that are made, (even) his everlasting power and divinity; that they
may be without excuse:

21 because that, knowing God, they glorified him not as God, neither gave thanks; but became
vain in their reasonings, and their senseless heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible
man, and of birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things
.
24 Wherefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts unto uncleanness, that their bodies
should be dishonored among themselves:

25 for that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature
rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile passions: for their women changed the natural
use into that which is against nature:

27 and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one
toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that
recompense of their error which was due.

28 And even as they refused to have God in (their) knowledge, God gave them up unto a
reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy,
murder, strife, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 backbiters, hateful to God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient
to parents,

31 without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, unmerciful:

32 who, knowing the ordinance of God, that they that practise such things are worthy of death,
not only do the same, but also consent with them that practise them.

So where does that live us? We still have our vow to God. We still stand Pledge our allegiance to God.
Our vow to him is binding.

Think about a cement foundation of a house. If you did not like parts of that foundation yet the whole
house was meant to have that ingredient, still you don’t like in it. So then you decide to take it out,
taking a jack hammer you start removing the parts even though they are many.  Then the whole
foundation crumbles into a broken bunch of rocks that do not support the house. The House falls.
Just as our Nation will without God.

Our strength of our Nation comes from God.

As long as we know our strength is God then we will adjust our thinking. We will put our faith in God not
man.

There are two ways to handle the things going on right now.

Man’s way and God’s way.

In next lesson we will view Moses, he tried both ways.

                                           Part 2

The Bible shows us the fruits of our choices. It reveals how we react to injustice when we study His
people. Many of them rise up and become leaders. When we look at Moses we think of a great man of
God. He had a heart for the people he knew were his own, the Israelites, even though he himself lived
in royalty, he felt their pain. He was seeing injustice over and over, his people, God’s people were
overburdened and abused. So when a situation arose Moses reacted. Note
that there were not
inquires to God if he should do anything. Moses just reacted.

Exodus 2:11-13

Now it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out to his brethren and
looked at their burdens. And he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren.12 So
he looked this way and that way, and when he saw no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in
the sand.

This was a reaction to injustice. But did it bring light into the situation or darkness?. Did it help the
people as a whole? Did it make people look to God? Did it change the abuse going on?

Exodus 2:13-14

13 And when he went out the second day, behold, two Hebrew men were fighting, and he said to
the one who did the wrong, "Why are you striking your companion?" 14 Then he said,"Who
made you a prince and a judge over us?
Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?"

Note -The Hebrew men who had been fighting with each other did not welcome his intervention into
their lives. They had no trust in him, he had proved a hot head. They did not respect this, nor did they
respect him.  Moses had thought before he was in the clear but now-

Exodus 2:14-15

So Moses feared and said, "Surely this thing is known!"

Note - Panic sets in, He has no prayers to God at this point, so he flees as far away as he can get.

Exodus 2:15

15 When Pharaoh heard of this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of
Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of Midian; and he sat down by a well.

Note - God knows Moses and God  has great plans for him even though he had a hot head. Moses
was a rescuer by nature. He had a heart for the underdog (those strong armed  by others to give up
their freedom and rights). He shows this again when he ends up at the well in the desert.

Exodus 2:16-25

16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters. And they came and drew water, and they filled
the troughs to water their father's flock. 17
Then the shepherds came and drove them away; but
Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock
.

Moses rescused the women.

18 When they came to Reuel their father, he said, "How is it that you have come so soon today?"
19 And they said, "An Egyptian delivered us from the hand of the shepherds, and he also drew
enough water for us and watered the flock." 20 So he said to his daughters, "And where is he?
Why is it that you have left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread." 21
Then Moses was
content to live with the man
, and he gave Zipporah his daughter to Moses. 22 And she bore him
a son. He called his name Gershom, for he said, "I have been a stranger in a foreign land." 23
Now it happened in the process of time that the king of Egypt died. Then the children of Israel
groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry came up to God because of
the bondage.
24 So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with
Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

Note - I look at this and think of our own covenant that we made to God that he would be our guide
and foundation of our own nation, our peoples. When we cry out to God I know he hears us.

25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God acknowledged them. NKJV

25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and
God had respect unto them. KJV

Note - So God heard and put HIS plan into action; This time a plan to rescue others that wasn’t from
his inside feelings, not grown from frustration and sudden temper. He looks to God, God has chosen
him for this time.

Notice the difference in the rescue as we go on. The first thing we see is a conversation with God.

Exodus 3:1-15

3:1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the
flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. 2 And the
angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he
looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. 3 And Moses
said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. 4
And when the
LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and
said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

Note -This is the place We need to be as God children saying. Saying”Here I am”

5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon
thou standest is holy ground. 6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of
Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to
look upon God. 7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in
Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; 8 And I
am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that
land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of
the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the
Jebusites.

Note - Even though we are not near having the affliction of the Hebrew people, we are God’s people
and we have cried out to him at this time of attack.
For we feel the oppression against God, and the
people of God in this land.

We are not slaves, but a yoke of secular idealism,  transient causes; and transnational rule is eroding
our foundation which our forefathers established.
A wave of anti-God acts and anti-American conduct
has riding over us.

9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen
the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
10 Come now therefore, and I will send
thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt. 11
And Moses said unto God,
Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth
the children of Israel out of Egypt?

Note -This is where we feel in this land “ Who am I to speak up? Who am I to help anyone? I am just
an individual. I think we can all relate to this feeling and yet-

Remember the Salt.
Salt has many grains put together to impact the world beyond their singleness.
When many grains are together, you cannot deny the strength of them.

We are the Salt of the world.

12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent
thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt,
ye shall serve God upon this
mountain.

Note - A mountain is a place that takes effort to climb, it is not easy, yet when you are alone with God
and feel his presence it is an awesome experience.

13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto
them,
The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his
name? What shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said,
Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. 15 And God said
moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your
fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you:
this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. KJV

Note - In our own Land that Our forefathers set up this Country under God. We have a heritage to
remember, one of serving an almighty God. He is the God of our fathers.

We draw our strength from God’s words and our mountain time experience of being alone with him. We
also draw strength as a nation from the generations of foundational principles to which God blessed us
with. We must cherish our rich heritage. We must bow low to our God and thank him for it, and stand
against men who oppress it; to steal away our freedoms. We must ask God for directions and not be a
hothead.

  WE must pray!

Notes taken from Jefferson in 1785 on the state of Virginia on  panel three of the Jefferson Memorial
read:

God who gave us life, gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have
removed a conviction that these liberties are a gift from God? Indeed I tremble for my
country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever. Commerce
between master and slave is despotism. Nothing is more is more certainly written in the
book of fate that these people are to be free. You will also see His quote there ”I have
sworn upon the alter of God, eternal hostility
against every form of tyranny over the minds
of man”
                                                  Thomas Jefferson

So if we are upset about our freedoms being taken from us Thomas Jefferson would be one man who
could inspire us. If we do not let the secular people chop away at his history.
God is just.
