The American Christian Strength in the Midst of the Storm Part 3
From the last two lessons we have seen that –
We as Americans, have a covenant relationship with God. We also have a covenant relationship with our Savior. He will not leave us or forsake us. That is him towards us. What about us?
God honors and respects those who keep covenant with him. He does not take lightly the breaking of that oath though. It angers him. If we are breaking a covenant with God as a nation then we deserve what we are getting. But our God is merciful, He loves us. We must try to keep covenant as a whole people and not let the secular views from Satan put us in bondage.
We must stand for God or our nation will fall.
We are learning to face the storm God’s way instead of man's way. Man's way - We looked at Moses how he reacted in temper killing a man. He ran to the desert before he faced pharaoh. God had a plan for even this hot headed person and He draws him by showing a burning bush up a mountain. Moses hikes the mountain. Then God reveals His plan to Moses What is Moses reaction to this plan?
11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
This lesson we look at us, you, me and us as a whole. All can say, " who am I?", but the one thing we ignore when we say that is God. Because when we give our lives to Christ it is He who strengthens us, it is He that actually does these accomplishments. We are just a vessel. We just have to give up our own insecurities and let Him work through us. We have to push our worldly reactions away. Our own thoughts and exchange them with Christ’s. I battle with this on a daily basis. That’s why He gives each of us the Word to coup with this. How does God tell us to take on challenging tasks?
Ephesians 6:10-20
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the Wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery Darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints --19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. NKJV
We are God’s warriors, all of us, there is no Christian that is not. We fight against Darkness in High places, we fight that truth will reign. We fight for our brethren as well as our own families. We are one body in Christ. We must join together. We stand as individual grains of salt/ beams of light, together becoming one strong influence on overcoming the darkness.
It is normal to look at the inferior shell of a body we are before our God. But it is the putting on the armor of God that is the key to our strength. We have to do this daily in prayer and reading the word. The word is meat to our spirit man. Are you starving your Spirit man?
Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. NKJV
James 4:7-9 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. NKJV
Moses came into the presence of the Almighty God and yet thought that God must have things wrong to choose him.
Exodus 3:10-13
10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt. 11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt? 12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be the token unto thee, that I have sent thee: when thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, Ye shall serve God upon this mountain. 13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? What shall I say unto them? ASV
This is a valid question, we would and do ask the same thing when God calls us through his nudges and His word to do things or say things.
1. But first God tells Moses what to say-
Exodus 3:14-15 14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, Jehovah, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. ASV
2. Then God tells Moses what to do-
Exodus 3:16-19
16 Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, Jehovah, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, hath appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and (seen) that which is done to you in Egypt: 17 and I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, unto a land flowing with milk and honey. 18 And they shall hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and Ye shall say unto him, Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, hath met with us: and now let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to Jehovah our God. 19 And I know that the king of Egypt will not give you leave to go, no, not by a mighty hand. ASV
So God instructs Moses to go and say before the King knowing all the while the King will not just adhere to what Moses says. Moses was to stand whether he saw results or not. But God is saying as you step out, this is what I, God Almighty, will do.
Exodus 3:20-22
20 And I will put forth my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go. 21 And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when Ye go, Ye shall not go empty. 22 But every woman shall ask of her neighbor, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and Ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and Ye shall despoil the Egyptians. ASV
It is only by Gods hand that we have this nation we have now, away from the rule of a Tyrant King. Our founding fathers circumstances were very hard. Yet many thought what can we do? We are individuals? They are a grand army. They looked to God’s word many times in thought of what to do. That is why you hear of America being the place of Milk and Honey. Our peoples have always related to God’s people Israel, even to this day. In our Declaration of Independence these are the reasons our people rose up against the King. When we look at our Government now there is a trend: a surge of a wave to appoint people picked by the President and answer only to the President himself which should be under our current judicial system instead seems apparently unjust. His appointments bypass the peoples power over government and place government powerful hand over the peoples because we cannot have any control in what these picks do. A Tyrant is a cruel and unjust ruler. We can question the intents of our government now that gives them a hand, in what seems; the goal of everything in our lives. From what we eat to what we do. If we look at the acceleration of laws with this administration we find it unjust. This administration also wants to abort( kill) babies under the cloak of choice at an accelerated rate. We can only conclude cruelty.
When stimulus packages are forced fed to us along with other laws, This government chooses for us, we have to ask where does this wave end? The signings of anti-morals support by the government have mounted. National Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual month of June recently signed by Obama to name one. When history is not examined, it will repeat. When Our head leader says we are no longer a Christian nation but one of many faiths; it goes against the founding fathers who allowed for all faiths; but placed us,as a Nation, dependent on our God. It tears at our covenant with God. We are not at the height of tide of rule our forefathers faced yet, but the tide is apparent.-
Our forefathers wrote In our Declaration of Independence -
The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.
He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.
He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.
He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.
He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.
He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.
He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.
He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.
He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation: For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us: For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States: For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world: For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent: For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury: For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies: For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:
For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.
He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.
He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.
He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.
He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions. In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our Brittish brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.
We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.
Those things in red I question. Do you?
We can stand on our Word of God and go forth with truth. Go to him in prayer for guidance, and be watchful of our rights as an American Christian. We must put on the whole armor of God.
